But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.  Hebrews 2:9

The concept of immortality is one the Lord is emphasizing in the body of Christ today. Though this reality was witnessed in the scriptures, it has not been proclaimed by preachers because of fear.

Enoch, Elijah and Moses are examples of people in the scriptures who accessed this reality. Moreover, the Lord Jesus Himself said: “And whoever lives by believing in me will never die… (John 11:26 NIV)”. Again, He told Peter of John “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?… (John 21:22)”, revealing that He could allow Apostle John to be alive until His second coming. 

With the above found in scripture, the idea of immortality shouldn’t be far-fetched for a Christian, and we should desire it. Now, to help our faith further, let’s see the price Christ paid for this reality. As we know, grace is riches at Christ’s expense (inferred from 2 Corinthians 8:9). This means whatever we enjoy today as Christians was paid for by Christ. For example, the healing we have was because he took those stripes for us, for the scriptures says “By His stripes, we were healed (1 Peter 2:24)”

Again, the prosperity we are enjoying now in Christ was because Jesus Christ became poor for us (2 Cor 8:9). In the same manner, the immortality that is available for us Christians is because Jesus Christ tasted death for everyone. For scriptures say “… that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man (Heb. 2:9).”

A Christian cannot access healing except he or she believes what God says in His word about healing. In like manner, a Christian cannot access Immortality unless he or she believes what God says in His word about it.

Death, for a Christian, is not necessary. For the price for us to live without dying has been paid.

Prayer Point

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us believe His word about immortality, so we can expect to experience it.
