27ย Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 NIV

33ย โ€œI have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.โ€ย  John 16:33 NIV

Jesus is the Prince of Peace prophesied by the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 9:6. If you have Jesus, you have peace. The question is, are you guarding your peace?ย

Beloved in Christ this world is full of surprises. Sometimes trouble just comes to you from nowhere. Other than that, people are suffering in different ways. While some people donโ€™t have kids some others have stubborn kids. My brother, unfortunately as you know it, being a Christian does not exempt us from trouble. Christ didnโ€™t promise us a life without trouble but rather peace in spite of it. However, we also have a responsibility to guard that peace, claim it, and rest in it.ย

You might recall the story of Jesus sleeping in the boat while there was a storm and the disciples were so appalled that Jesus could be sleeping in that storm. They were so afraid that they even believed they could die by drowning. Can you imagine! To have God in your boat and still believe you can die by drowning? When they woke Jesus up, Jesus responded by saying โ€œYou of little faith, why are you so afraid?โ€. (Matthew 8:23-27)

Beloved, their faith at that point was very little but what about yours in a time of trouble? Is Jesus not in the boat of your life? Are you not a child of God? So why are you so afraid? Why are you thinking of the worst? Beloved, even if the so-called worst happens? Is it really the worst thing that can happen? Hell is the worst thing.ย

The Lord invites us to have faith and not fear, to pray and not worry (Philippians 4:6-7). Ask for wisdom and direction but don’t dwell on pessimism or lose your peace in Christ. You have Christ. No matter what, you are still saved. Because we are in Christ our future is always bright (Proverbs 4:18, Jeremiah 29:11).ย

The Lord invites us to thank Him and trust Him always because He is working it out for our good (Romans 8:28). Guard your peace in Christ Jesus, and encourage yourself in the Lord.ย

Prayer Point:ย

Let’s thank God for giving us Jesus the Prince of Peace. May God help us to abide in His word and trust Him.
