There’s a process God takes His children through so they can share in His character (Holiness). This process speaks of a time of training He gives to us, where we learn His mind and know His judgment. The training helps us prepare for leadership.
For example, when King Saul was anointed king by Samuel (1 Samuel 10:1), it didn’t take long after he was anointed for him to start ruling. The case wasn’t the same for David, who spent several years in the wilderness running from Saul before he eventually became King over all Israel (1 Samuel 16:13, 2 Samuel 5:1-12). However, Saul lost his kingdom (1 Samuel 28:17-18), and David’s Kingdom was established forever (2 Samuel 7:12-13, 1 Chronicles 22:9-10).
The difference between Saul and David was that David was trained, and Saul was not. If God wants you to be established in the kingdom, like David, He will take you through a process, which may be hard on your flesh for a season, before you enter the promise. The key to survival during the season of hardness that God may permit is trust and surrender, as God may allow things that may not make sense to you at that moment.
Though Jesus Christ was without sin, the Bible recorded that He learned obedience through what He suffered (Hebrews 5:8). The suffering associated with the process is not necessarily about your sin, but because God wants you to learn something. It takes total trust and surrender to receive this from God joyfully.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us trust Him through the process and to surrender to Him.
