Title: The reason for the season

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death. (Philippians 3:10 KJV)

As we move close to the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, it is important we consider our alignment with the master and take a self assessment of our relationship with him. It is expedient that our relationship transcends from being knowledge based to being experiential. Knowing him is personal and deep rooted. Many have encountered him as the healer and when they are asked who He is, they speak boldly about their experience with the great physician. For some, he is the restorer and for others, he is the saviour. The more we strive to know Him, the more of him we see.

The reason for the season is not just Christ. It is that Christ was born to die on the cross as part of a unification plan to bring men back to God. To know Him is to experience him as the saviour through the love of God. Many today see the celebration of his birth as just another holiday and neglect the divine purpose attached to his coming. Long before he was born physically, he had come into the fiery furnace to demonstrate his love and salvation power to Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego. The king saw in the fiery furnace a โ€œfourth man whose form is like the Son of Godโ€. This experience alone made the King pass a decree throughout the land exalting the one true God (Daniel 3:25-30).

There is nothing more purposeful than a life spent knowing God daily because it pleases the Father. Knowing him is becoming more like him everyday and changing from one level of glory to another (2Cor. 3:18). Enoch pursued him so much that he became more like him every day till there was no human nature left in him and eventually became one with God. At the end of time, nothing else will matter but knowing him and pursuing the interests of his kingdom. My prayer is that non of us will end up like the rich man in the parable of Christ begging for a drop of water from hell because the missed it in life.

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s thank Him for His love towards us by coming to save us. Lets ask him to reveal himself to us more and more as we seek him daily.

God bless you!
