And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.  (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

Every human being is made up of three parts: Spirit, Soul, and Body (1 Thess 5:23). It is therefore believed that man is a spirit, has a soul, and lives in a body. The soul comprises the mind, will, and emotions. After we give our lives to Christ, the Word of God instructs us to renew our minds. But what does it really mean to have a renewed mind?

A renewed mind is one that forsakes its own thoughts, philosophies, and methods and submits fully to the ways of Christ. Before we came to Christ, we may have operated according to the standards of the world — making money through fraud, corruption, prostitution, or other illegitimate means. However, when we truly come to Christ, these old ways must be abandoned in favor of what the Word of God approves. As Scripture tells us, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord (Is 55:8).

So why is the renewing of our minds so essential? Because God has great, mighty, and glorious plans for all His children — but we can only access and experience these plans when our minds are renewed (Rom 12:2). Being a Christian alone is not enough; without a transformed mind, one may never walk in the fullness of God’s will.

The story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15 illustrates this truth perfectly. The younger son chose his own path and lost everything, while the older son, who remained with the father, enjoyed all his blessings. In the same way, when we reject God’s ways, we miss out on the inheritance He desires to give us.

God’s desire for you to have a renewed mind is not to restrict your joy or freedom. Often, God’s path may not seem the most exciting, fastest, or easiest — but it is always the best. He sees the end from the beginning and leads us along the path of true life. Unfortunately, many reject His direction in favor of shortcuts and worldly solutions, only to suffer loss. As Proverbs 14:12 warns, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”

Beloved in the Lord, sometimes the consequences of ignoring God’s ways can be severe — leading to disease, brokenness, or spiritual emptiness. That is why God urges us to renew our minds. He wants us to be aligned with His will — the good, acceptable, and perfect will that leads to abundant life.

Prayer Point:

Let us thank God for His Word today. Let us ask Him to help all Believers around the world to renew their minds daily. May He grant us grace to obey His Word, and to follow His ways—even when they seem difficult—knowing that His plans are for our good and His glory.

God bless you all
