Title:ย The Role of the Holy Spirit in the Redemptive Plan of the Godhead

And so all Israel shall be saved, as it is written: โThere shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob. Romans 11:26 KJV
In my last contribution to the Call to Prayer, I wrote about the redemptive works of the Godhead, where I enumerated the different activities spearheaded by each member of the Godhead related to redemption. Though these activities seem independent, they are all part of one general plan: reconciling mankind to God (2 Cor, 5:11-21). As we now know, the redemption of Israel from Egypt which was spearheaded by the Father through Moses was an allegory to help us understand and receive the redemption Jesus Christ brought by His death and resurrection. Again, the activity of the Holy Spirit is to ensure that humans come into the fullness of what Christ has accomplished.
Now, the spearheading of each of these redemptive activities by each member of the Godhead does not mean the other members are not at work at the same time: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit are one at all times. However, one of them is at the forefront depending on the dispensation. Before the appearance of Jesus Christ, it was the dispensation of the Father. At the appearance of the Son, it was the dispensation of Jesus Christ (who is the Son). Ever since the ascension of Jesus Christ and the coming of the Holy Spirit, we have been in the dispensation of the Holy Ghost. The activities of the Holy Ghost in ensuring that the redemption Christ brought is received by all are numerous: Firstly, He is the one that equips the believer to preach the word and convicts the heart of the sinner to receive the word (John 16:8). It is the manifestation of His gifts that bears witness that the word preached is true (Heb. 2:4). Again, He is the seal by which our salvation is guaranteed (2 Cor. 1:22) etc. However, in todayโs post, I will concentrate on His role in the coming of Israel as a nation to the faith.
Israel as a nation has an important role in Godโs agenda for humanity. When our Lord manifested as a man, He came as an Israelite and His ministry was to that nation alone (Mat. 15:24). But His work was not accepted by the majority of the nation (just a remnant received Him). Because of this, the salvation He brought was passed to the gentiles. The reason Israel as a nation could not receive Christ was that they were hardened (Rom. 11:7). Their hardening was a strategic plan of God to see that the Gentiles are saved (Rom. 11:25), However, God has declared thatย โall Israel will be saved (Rom. 11:26)โ,ย and has set a time for it. The time that Israel as a nation will be given the grace to believe the Gospel will be after the full measure of the gentiles marked for salvation come into the faith (Rom. 11:25). Apostle Paul speaking about it in Romans 11 mentioned the individual that will spearhead this event, and how He will accomplish His work: He said, โThere shall come out of Zionย the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob (Rom. 11:26).ย The definite article โtheโ suggests the deliverer is a member of the Godhead, and the member of the Godhead who is currently resident in the Church (Zion) is the Holy Spirit. So, it is the Holy Spirit that will rise Zion (the Church) and take away ungodliness (sin) from Jacob (Israel). Now the question is, how will He achieve this?
The Bible has declared us to be the temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Cori. 6:19). Therefore, it is by us He performs His activities on earth. So, the Holy Spirit will rise from the Church (Zion), when we as a body (not just individually) rise to take our place in the world. This was inferred in Obadiah 1:21, where the scriptures stateย โAndย savioursย shall come up on mount Zion toย judgeย the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’Sโ.ย The word โsavioursโย as used here is from the Hebrew word โYรคshรคโ,ย it is sometimes translated asย deliverers.ย From the activities of God in Israel in the Old Testament, God uses judges (leaders) as deliverers (saviours).ย Only mature sons of God can rise as judges in the Kingdom.
As we rise as judges and take our leadership position in the Church and the world, manifesting the glory of God, Israel as a nation will take notice. Out of jealousy of the beauty of the Lordโs glory through us, Israel will believe the Gospel. Israel will not be won by words, but by jealousy (Romans 11:11,14)ย ย
Church, arise and shine today.
Prayer Point:
ย Letโs thank God for His word today. Letโs ask Him to help each member of the body of Christ to rise as judges and manifest His glory.
