And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few. ( 1 Samuel 14:6 KJV)

The human wisdom is largely built around logic, time, intuition, and intellect which all look amazing but are limited in higher realms of wisdom and understanding. I know a family that had a delay in childbirth after their first baby and this lasted for thirteen years then God stepped in to display His capacity and visited them with a set of triplets. When He comes to a man, He breaks the norm to show His almightiness.

In our text today, Jonathan the son of Saul who was the heir apparent to the throne decided to go on a suicide mission along with his armour bearer to a Philistine military garrison. He did this because of his trust in the capacity of the Lord of Israel which was reflected in his own words “….for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or few”. The act of courage endeared God to intervene and wrought a great deliverance for Israel through the hand of Jonathan.

Strategies are wonderful in getting things done but sometimes God overrides them to exercise His Lordship. He can overturn that situation that looks like a mountain before you in a way that defies logic and time. When the earth was destroyed, The Lord in His infinite wisdom chose to re-populate the humankind portion of it with the family of Noah which looks absolutely impossible. However, the over seven billion people across the world living today came from a single-family tree.

Are you depressed about your life because it seems all hope is lost? We have a God that can step in with His unlimited capacity to turn it all around and change that unpleasant situation into a glorious testimony.

Let’s thank God for today and let us pray that God will manifest His unlimited capacity in all areas of our lives.
