Title: The Vision is for an Appointed Time

For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.

ย (Habakkuk 2:3 KJV)

The encounter between the Prophet Habakkuk and the Lord was a very interesting one, and I believe there are so many things we can learn from it. This happened at a time when there was so much evil in Judah and the Babylonians have also started conquering other nations and gradually becoming the dominant world power.

The Prophet asked the Lord why the wicked in Judah were not being punished for their sin. The Lord promised to use the Babylonians to punish Judah (Hab 1). The prophet then asked why the Lord would use the wicked, ungodly Babylonians to punish His own people. The Lord replied that He would also punish the Babylonians after they had fulfilled their purpose (Hab 2).

I believe that this depicts the current nature of this world. We are living in a world full of evil and corruption. The leaders and majority of the people have rejected the Lord, and support and promote evil and ungodly acts. The corrupt system makes it easier for the ungodly to thrive and succeed whilst it makes it difficult for Christians. There are many Christians who are currently experiencing diverse forms of trials. Many are also believing the Lord for healing, breakthrough, or a miracle. ย Christians nowadays go through similar situations and ask the same questions that Habakkuk did. For example,โ€ why is the ungodly thriving? why am I going through such suffering? when will it end?โ€

One thing we can learn from this encounter is that it is very normal to have questions and doubts as a Christian. However, the right person to go to for answers is the Lord. Donโ€™t be afraid to ask God questions. He is our loving Father who loves to hear our voices all the time. Letโ€™s therefore make it our habit to spend regular time in His presence and wait to hear from Him. The problem is not with God and His ways but with our limited understanding of Him. The closer we are to the Lord, the clearer His Plans and Purpose will be to us.

Also, when we go the Lord with questions, we have to accept and obey every response He gives because He knows best, and He has great plans and good Thoughts for us (Hab 3:2, Jer 29:11). You might think that the Lord is delaying but He might be using it to build a character in you which will be of great help to you in the future. Letโ€™s therefore trust the Lord and His timing. He works in His own time. At His appointed time, nothing can stop His word from being fulfilled in the world and in our lives.

Beloved in the Lord, the evil and suffering in the world might bring a lot of questions in the minds of many Believers. In such situations, we must go to the Lord knowing that He has all the answers. Letโ€™s also not be too anxious about how long the promise is taking. However, letโ€™s be patient and continue in Faith and Prayer as we await His Word to be fulfilled in the world and in our lives.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask the Lord to give every Believer the desire and hunger to always spend time in His presence. Letโ€™s also pray for the Will of God to be done on earth and in the life of every believer.

God bless you all
