Title: The Voice of Miracles
By: Daniel Peter
Date: 06.09.2023
For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. Matthew 9:5-6 KJV
God wants to be known, so He is always speaking, giving out revelations of Himself. Being the creator of speech, He is a master communicator. One of the ways He chooses to speak is by the miracles He performs and the way He brings about them. These miracles become signs, pointing us to the revelation of Christ, which causes us to wonder when we see His glory.
One of such times God intended to communicate His mind using miracles was the healing of the paralytic man as recorded in Matthew 9:1-8. In ministering to him, Jesus told him, “… son; your sins are forgiven (Matt. 9:2)“. That statement elicited a reaction from the Jews, who lacked the revelation that Jesus Christ had the authority to forgive sins. Jesus’ response to the reaction of the Jews was that He told them He was intentional about his choice of words, “so that they will know that He had the authority to forgive sins (Matt. 9:6)”. This suggests that God uses miracles to give knowledge of Himself.
Another of such miracles that give us a revelation of Christ was the healing of the blind man in John 9. Jesus had healed many blind people, but He chose to do this differently. Instead of just speaking and commanding the blind eye to open, He decided to spit on the ground to make a mud, and He put it on his eyes (John 9:6). After which He asked him to go and wash in the pool of Siloam, then he started seeing ( John. 9:7). You may ask, why did Jesus Christ decide to make mud with a spit and anoint the man’s eyes? He did so to help those who will consider the miracle to recognise that He is the creator; He was the very one who formed Adam from the dust of the ground (Gen. 2:19).
All the miracles Jesus Christ performed were signs pointing to a revelation of Him. So are the miracles He uses His ministers to perform today. We receive the revelation when we ponder on them. In the same vein, God doesn’t just want to heal you, He wants to heal you in a way that will glorify Him. That when you share your testimony, people will be able to see Him.
Prayer Point.
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us to consider His works, including the miraculous.
