Title: The Wait

ย

โ€œWait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!โ€

ย

I have a confession to make. I am not the best person when it comes to waiting on someone, something, or anything at all. The word I have heard more than any other in my life is “wait”. When one season of waiting ends, another one begins. Waiting is a perpetual state, especially in a Christian’s life.

The biggest mistakes of my life have happened because I got ahead of Him. I just wanted to help Him out a little; Iโ€™m sure you know what I mean. Most of us have one way or the other thought we knew better than Him. Most of the time, this is a recipe for disaster. I allowed other well-meaning people to sway my thinking but ultimately, I was to blame. People can be very deceiving so we must be ever vigilant, always on guard, because the devil will do anything in his power to destroy us. We can be fooled by the devil, and we can even be fooled by our own selves.

There are so many stories written in the Bible that illustrates the wait of a lot of men and women. In the Old Testament, the Israelites waited for the Messiah to come. As for the New Testament, four hundred years passed between the end of the Old Testament and the coming of John the Baptist. Shortly after, was the first coming of the Messiah. Today, the โ€œwaitโ€ has not ended, we’re waiting for Jesus to come again. The earth and our hearts groan for the second coming of our Savior.

God has a plan for each of us and His main plan for us is for us to be perfect like Him. It is all right to have a wish in prayer, but we have to know that God knows best for us. The coming of Jesus was expected from the Israelites to be exceptional and great, but God who knows what is best and has the perfect plan for us, came in a simple and unexpected way. Sometimes we expect the answer to our prayers to be great and powerful, that we overlook the little miracles He has already done in our lives. During the wait, letโ€™s not forget the unexpected performance and the goodness in our lives. Who knows, maybe what you are asking God for is too little and He is preparing better ones for you during your waiting.

Abraham and Sarah waited for 25 years but during their wait they made a mistake, and He conceived a son with their maid. Despite their mistake God still answered their prayers and gave them the best. I am not saying their first son wasnโ€™t the best, but he was not the promised son. Whatโ€™s not Godโ€™s plan is always disastrous.ย  Whatโ€™s not Godโ€™s plan always comes with pain and suffering. Hagar, who was their maid, began to feel more valuable than Sarah and this made Sarah to feel hurt.

Beloved in the Lord, let us learn to be patient with God as He is also patient with us. โ€œThe Lord isnโ€™t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repentโ€ (2 Peter 3:9 NLT).

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His word today. Letโ€™s ask God to help every Christian in this world to be patient and continue to trust Him to fulfill all His promises.

God bless you all.
