There Is Life In Heaven

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. (Revelation 21:1)

There are many Christians who imagine Heaven to be a place where we will only be singing and praying to God day and night. We will definitely be praying and singing to our Lord in Heaven,  but there are a lot more we will experience or do while in Heaven. 

There will be work for us to do while in Heaven. I am not talking about the hard and stressful work we have here on earth. The work here on earth is as a result of Adam’s sin; his curse. The new Heaven and the new Earth will be a place of perfect peace and rest. Revelation 14:13 says, „…Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them!”

This means we will enjoy the work we will be given to do and won’t be in any form of hardship. Revelation 22:3 also put it clear that we will serve the Lord. Although the Bible doesn’t tell us exactly what kind of work to expect but it makes us understand that we will not get tired or be burdened, but this place of rest will be filled with joy for all eternity. 

We will have houses in the new Heaven and in the new Earth. Isaiah 65:21 NKJV says, „They shall build houses and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.“ We will also have a place to call our own but the difference is that, we will have peace living in them. There won’t be any bills or taxes to pay, because the Lord has prepared the place for us. John 14:2 NKJV  says: „In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” 

We will see our loved ones again. Our grandparents or parents, sisters and brothers who were saved, will all meet us in Heaven again (1Thess 4:16-18). That is why it’s important to preach the word to your families, so that if they should die tomorrow, you can see them again, not for yourself but for the Glory of God. 

We will know who we are and we will still have emotions. When God created us, He made us just like Him.He created us in His own image. Just as He shows emotions, so do we. We will still know what love is, joy is or what happiness is. However, one may ask, what about the bad emotions? Revelations 21:4 NKJV says: „And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” This means, all that we hate to feel will no longer be felt again. All these are caused through sin and because in Heaven there is no sin, they will all be gone. 

We will not miss the old and former places on Earth because everything in the new Heavens and Earth will be far better than what we are having here. I do remember a trip to Ghana 6 years ago, a lady begged me to exchange her seat in business class with mine in the economy because her friend sitting on my right hand, couldn’t be with her. I was surprised, and I agreed to her request. When I got to my seat, there was no way I thought for a second about my former seat in the economy section. That’s how the new Heaven and Earth will be for us (Isaiah 65:17-18).

We will have our new bodies in Heaven. We will be reunited with our new Spirits bodies in the new Heaven and Earth. These Spiritual bodies will never get sick, weak, old or tired. Our new Spiritual bodies will be glorified bodies (1 Corinthians 15:42-49) . Our bodies will be like the image of our Heavenly Father. It will be like Jesus when He resurrected from dead. Beautiful and glorified! 

We will live in a new World. Most Christians only talk about Heaven but the Bible talks about the new Heaven and Earth.  Isaiah 65:17 says “For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth;…”

Most of the things we see here, including the animals and the trees will also be seen there, but it will be more beautiful than what you know on earth (Isaiah 65:24-25, Revelations 21:1-27).

Heaven is our real Home, for this world we are living in is just temporary. We don’t belong here but we were just sent here for a period of time. First, it seemed like there was no hope and we were kept here to suffer but then Jesus came and made a way by dying for our sins, wiping it away with His Holy blood so that we may be Righteous in sight of God, and be with Him again. Philippians 3:20 says: „For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.“ Heaven is our home where we will feel secured, loved, peace, joy and rest. For there is no place better than home! 

Beloved, I didn’t come to teach you just about how Heaven would be, but I came to tell you to prepare your minds and hearts towards a place which is designed for you and I to be for eternity. A place created so that we can dine with the Lord forever and ever! 

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word. Let’s pray that our hearts will focussed on the things above and not the temporal things here on earth. For the Bible says: „For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?“ (Mark 8:36).
