I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong… but time and chance happen to them all.   Ecclesiastes 9:11

Life does not always follow human expectations. We assume the strongest will always win, the fastest will always succeed, and the most skilled will never struggle. Yet Scripture teaches us that outcomes are not determined by ability alone.

There are moments when unexpected events interrupt even the best plans. Opportunities appear suddenly. Delays happen without warning. From our perspective, this feels like chance—but for the believer, nothing is outside God’s sovereignty.
The bible reminds us,
“To everything there is a season.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” — Proverbs 19:21

“All things work together for good to those who love God.” — Romans 8:28

This truth protects our hearts from pride and discouragement. It keeps us humble when we succeed and hopeful when life feels unfair. Our responsibility is faithfulness; God’s responsibility is timing and outcome.

When life surprises you through delay, disappointment, or unexpected change, remember that God is still in control. His plans are never random, and His timing is never late.

Are you trusting your strength alone, or are you trusting God’s timing?

PRAYER POINTS 

• Let’s thank God for His word.
• Let’s ask the lord to help us remain faithful in every season.
• Let’s ask Him to teach us to trust in His timing when life feels uncertain. Amen.
