Title: True Beauty
Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
(1 Peter 3:3-4 NKJV)
Growing up, there were many ladies in our community who looked very attractive and outwardly beautiful. They were so proud of their appearance that they took advantage of many men, squandered their money, and left them heartbroken. I used to think they would be among the first to get married. To my surprise, I saw other ladies getting married, but the names of these outwardly attractive ones never appeared on any wedding invitation posters. Only later did I come to understand why.
Consider a tree: the part people enjoy most is its fruit. Likewise, it is the fruit we bear that determines whether our lives positively or negatively impact those around us. As Christians, the Word of God encourages us to bear good fruit and live by His Word so we can bless many and bring glory to the Lord (Matt 5:16).
The truth is true beauty is not based on physical appearance (Prov 31:30). Don’t be deceived! True beauty is found in a person who has surrendered their heart to the Lord and allowed Him to transform it. Such a person’s actions and behavior are marked by love, gentleness, and a quiet spirit (1 Pet 3:4).
Therefore, young man, when you are looking for a life partner, do not focus only on outward appearance. The same goes for young women seeking a partner. If you choose based solely on physical looks, you may face many problems, constant conflict, and even divorce. You may not truly enjoy one another’s companionship if your relationship is filled with strife.
Let us not dwell too much on external beauty but allow the Lord and His Word to work in us as we abide in Him. In doing so, we will bear the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22; Jn 15:5). And let us not forget that our beauty comes from the Lord—so let us use it to serve Him and fulfill His will.
Beloved in the Lord, true beauty in God’s sight is not about physical appearance. True beauty is found in bearing the fruit of the Spirit so that our lives can be a blessing to others. Let us be determined to grow spiritually and remain in Christ so we can continually produce spiritual fruit. This is what pleases the Lord!
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask the Lord to help all Believers to grow spiritually and abide in Him so we can bear the fruits of the Spirit.
God bless you all.
