Title: True Service

Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?ย  ย (1 Corinthians 12:29 NKJV)

A few years ago, a certain man joined our ministry. He was very diligent in the work of God and serious in his faith. Within a short time, he was given the opportunity to minister during our midweek services. We became close, and in our conversations, he often said, โ€œThere is no unity in the church.โ€ I couldnโ€™t understand why, because everyone in the church welcomed and loved him. Eventually, he left the ministry, and when I asked why, he said he had expected an opportunity to minister during the Sunday services, which were mostly led by our Head Pastor.

This reflects a common misunderstanding among believers regarding ministry and service to God. Many think that true service only begins when one leads a ministry or holds a visible position.

The truth is, while all believers are called to share the Gospel (Matt. 28:18โ€“20), the Lord also assigns different roles within the Body of Christ. Some are called to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, or teachers โ€” while others are called to serve through support and helps ministries (1 Cor. 12:28; Eph. 4:11). In the early Church, seven men were appointed to oversee food distribution so the apostles could focus on prayer and the Word (Acts 6:3โ€“4).

We must understand that no assignment is greater than another. All are equally valuable in the eyes of God. What matters is our obedience and faithfulness to what weโ€™ve been called to do. When we stand before Christ, we will be judged based on the assignment and opportunities He gave us (2 Cor. 5:10).

Letโ€™s not envy or compete with each other. Instead, let us walk in love, unity, and purpose โ€” each one doing their part to build the Kingdom of God.

Beloved in the Lord, God has gifted each of us uniquely. True service means walking in obedience to your calling, no matter how visible or โ€œsmallโ€ it may seem to others. Let us encourage and uplift one another as we labor together for the glory of God.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask Him to help all believers understand what true service really means. Letโ€™s also pray for grace to fulfill the specific assignments He has given each of us.

God bless you all.
