If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.ย  Daniel 3:17โ€ญ-โ€ฌ18 KJV

One of the reasons why lots of people are frustrated in their walk with God is that they cannot relate the challenges they are experiencing to their knowledge of God’s power and His goodness. They say, if God is almighty as the word declares of Him and He is good, why will He allow me to go through the challenges I am experiencing without Him changing the situation?

Most of us must have asked a similar question, as God would usually allow us to pass through seasons where our situation is contradictory to revelation of His power and goodness. There are a number of reasons why God would allow such, and one of which is that He wants to manifest His glory through us. For example, Lazarus was a friend of Jesus Christ who became sick and Jesus knew about it . Jesus’ response to the situation was “… This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby (John 11:4 KJV)”.ย Jesus Christ did not act to change the situation until Lazarus was dead for four days. When His death became obvious to all for many gathered at his house, this was when Jesus came to raise him up from theย  dead. This miracle became the most important miracle of Jesus’ earthly ministry because it led to His own death, which was a means by which He fulfilled God’s purpose for Him as the saviour of the world.

The glory He may want to manifest in your situation is the development of your character. For many times when God refuses to change a situation, it is usually because by the situation He wants to change us. Again, God may just be testing His work in you like He did to Job. Therefore, our attitude is such situations should be like that of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. For when they were faced with a death situation, they acknowledged His power and declared that He was going to deliver them from that situation. However, they were willing to accept the event of God not acting to save them. This is what it means to trust in God.

God will come through for those that trust in Him. Persevere in your faith in God by believing those things written in scriptures about Him though your situation may be contrary.

Prayer Point.

Let’s thank God for His word today, and let’s ask God to help us to persevere in our faith even in difficult times.
