Title: Unwavering Love

 “Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.” – Matthew 24:12-13 (NIV)

Love is the fundamental instruction of the New Testament Church. Sadly, the devil’s strategy to keep Christians from being obedient to the Lord’s instruction to love is to frustrate us by increasing wickedness in the world. The Lord’s admonition for us today is that we should not give up, but keep loving.

When God was encouraging Joshua, He said to him, “Be strong and courageous…” (Joshua 1:9). Courage is the ability to do something despite impending danger. Like Joshua, we must be strong and courageous to walk in love. In a time when people are ungrateful and can turn to reward your love with evil, God wants us to keep loving. There are things we must know to find the courage to keep walking in love.

Though salvation is by faith, Jesus Christ mentioned in Matthew 24:13 that only those whose love endures till the end shall be saved. Therefore, love is an act of faith. Knowing that our salvation can be affected if we stop walking in love, will encourage us to keep on loving. Again, love is the antidote for evil. Meaning, that an evil person can be won by love. When Scripture says, “Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21), it affirms that love can change an evil person.

Furthermore, when we walk in love, even towards an evil person, we are demonstrating that we are like our Father; and that we have attained His perfection (Matthew 5:48). Having this knowledge will make us see offence as an opportunity to reveal our association with God. Loving in a wicked world is how we are light in darkness.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him for grace to keep on walking in love despite the wickedness in the world.
