But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of themโ€”yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 1 Corinthians 15:10 NIV

Because of the depth of his relationship with God, Apostle Paul is a model on how to walk with God in the New Testament. Him saying “be ye imitators of me, even as I am also of Christ (1Cor. 11:1)” and him encouraging those who are perfect to have his kind of mind (Phil. 3:15) goes to show how confident He was of His performance in the things of God. For these being scriptures showed that the knowledge he had and his practice was affirmed as accurate by God.

Apostle Paul was one who was full of grace, for clearly he had access to knowledge that showed him how grace is multiplied. Nevertheless, when acknowledging grace as the source of his successful outcome in life, he mentioned: ” and His grace towards me was not without effect (1 Cor.15:10b)”, indicating that it was possible for one to receive abundant grace of God and yet not effect (utilize) the grace.

I was giving an opportunity to hear of one who did not utilize the grace of God in his life by a recount of an account by one who knew him. He received repeated prophecies of how great he will be and the greatness of the Anointing upon his life. The revelation of His future made his pastor to draw him close so he can help him become that which was said of him. Along the line, this person became complacent, and was caught having sex with married women and was arrested, and he did lose favour with those God had placed in his life to help him. Now, what about the announcement made of him? Though God restores, he was an example of one who didn’t utilize the grace of God upon his life.

The question begging for answer is “how did Apostle Paul effect the grace upon His life?” In a time of prayer, the Lord told me that it was because Apostle Paul prayed in tongues often. His statement “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all (1 Cor.14:18)” were not mere words, but the secret of His success in ministry and the work He did more than them all in his days (1Cor. 15:10c).

We effect the grace in our lives when we often spend time praying in tongues for long.

Prayer Point

Let’s thank Him for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help the body of Christ to spend more time speaking in tongues, so we can utilize His grace in our lives.
