And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. [10] And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth? (Genesis 37:9-10 KJV)

According to marriage counsellors and relationship experts, we have learnt that a man must say these golden words “I LOVE YOU” to his wife or fiancée daily and as many times as possible even though he knows within himself that he loves her, she still needs to hear it from him. Such is the need for validation and this is perfectly normal with probably no one exempted. Even our Lord Jesus when he was on earth asked his disciples: whom do men say that I am? (Mark 8:27) As humans, validation increases our confidence.

As good as this is, it is not a deciding factor for the performance of what God intends to do. God is speaking to many today but they are waiting for validation from men. The agenda of God concerning us is personal and that is why God will speak to us, give us a vision, a dream or communicate to us through the Holy Spirit. It is therefore important that we take care not to derail his agenda if we don’t get any validation from any quarter.

In our text today, Joseph had approached his brethren for validation of the dream the Lord showed him of his future but was disappointed with their response, so he turned to his father Jacob who was a man of God and the spiritual head of the family. He was hoping that Jacob who has had different encounters with God in the past will pick it in his spirit and validate the dream but rather, his father also rebuked him. The same Joseph that was rebuked fulfilled the plan of God without anyone’s validation.

Whatever God has shown you or spoken to you about is sure to come to pass. Even if men tell you otherwise, believe Him above all else because His word is yea and amen.

Prayer point:
Let’s thank God for the word today. Lets ask God to increase our confidence in Him and boost our faith for the performance of His word in our lives and in the body of Christ as a whole.
