Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5: 15 -17 (ESV)

In my last contribution, I wrote on the topic โ€œuse of wisdomโ€, where I explored different applications of wisdom. I intended to make us see the multifaceted nature of wisdom and increase our desire for it, no matter what we have obtained already (for there is always more in God). However, one of the most important uses of wisdom is โ€œlivingโ€, for by it we build our lives.

King Solomon was one whose assignment preceded his ascension to the throne, for the first mention of an heir to David came when God spoke about the building of the temple by his (Davidโ€™s) successor (1King 8:19, 2 Chro. 6:9). With this known, it is safe to say that one of the reasons God gave him the dimension of wisdom he operated in was because of his assignment, the building of the temple of God. Viewing the Old Testament with the eyes of the New Testament, we know that a temple (which is a building) represents the body of a Christian, for our bodies have been declared to be the temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Cor. 6:19). Therefore, if Solomon needed wisdom to build the natural temple, we need wisdom to build our lives, the true temple of God.

Like I stated in my last write-up, wisdom is like a tool, we choose to use it or not. In the teachings of Jesus Christ, after He had set out the doctrine (instruction, will) of the New Testament, He concluded His sermon with these words: โ€œEveryone then who hears these words of mine and does them will beย like a wise man who built his house on the rockย (Matt 7:24)โ€.ย Clearly, from His speech, we build our lives by doing the word (obeying His instructions): this is how we walk in wisdom. It sounds easy, right? yes, it is, but only when His instruction is received and understood. The instruction of the New Testament goes beyond the literally written words, it includes the discerned instructions from the written word (revealed word from the text), and it reaches the spoken word (every impression of the Holy Spirit). As we do His instructions, our building rises as an edifice, and like Apostle Paul, we likewise master builders (1 Cor. 3:10): not just building our own lives, but the lives of others.

From what I have written so far, we can understand that the amount of the instructions (doctrine, will) of God you have determines how much of His wisdom you can manifests. He gives us His instructions when we seek Him in the word, in prayer, in fasting, by giving, by asking Him of His will when we are in the place of making decisions, and by being sensitive to hear His voice at all times. As we walk in obedience to what He reveals to us, we are building our lives and walking in wisdom.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His word today. Let us also ask Him to help the entire body of Christ to walk in wisdom.

God bless you all
