Title: We Are At War!

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.   (Ephesians 6:12-13 NKJV)

Apostle Paul who established the Church in Ephesus wrote a letter to them as he usually does to all the Churches he founded. In his letter, he spoke about various important topic; Salvation, Spiritual growth, Identity in Christ, Living as Children of the light, etc. In the last Chapter, he admonished them and all Believers to strengthen ourselves in the Lord (Eph 6:10). Why should we do so? He made it clear that the reason is because we are at war (Eph 6:12).

We are in a very serious Battle Brethren. However, it is very important to know that this war we are fighting is not with humans. Flesh and Blood are not our Enemies. Our fight is against principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this age and spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Eph 6:12). Our fight is with the devil and his accomplices.

Although these evil Powers can influence some humans and use them to fight us, we still have to know that those humans are not our enemies. However, our fight is with the powers that influenced them. As Christians, we are supposed to love everyone, including those who even hate us (Matt 5:43-44).

The main strategy of evil one is to deceive Believers to spend our time fighting one another instead fighting him; Church against Church, Pastor against Pastor, Husband against his Wife, Parents against their Children etc. He knows that a Kingdom that is divided against itself will not stand (Matt 12:25). Thanks be to God that we are not ignorant of his devices (2 Cor 2:11). Let’s not spend time fighting one another. Let’s rather unite as one Body of Christ and fight our common enemy.

When Soldiers are going to war, they don’t put on civilian clothes else they will be wiped out within a minute on the Battlefield. They however put on their armor for protection and then pick up their weapon to fight. Knowing that we are at war, we have to also put on the full Armor of God and pick up our weapon to fight (Eph 6:13).

Putting on only part of the Armor of God will not ensure our full protection against the attack of the enemy. We have to put on the full Armor of God; the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Gospel of Peace, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation, the Sword of the Spirit, Prayer (Eph 6:14-18).

The evil one has also deceived many Believers to think that once they are born again, they are safe and cannot be attacked. Such people do not bother to strengthen themselves in the Lord and put on the full Armor of God. Don’t be deceived. You are at war. Get up! Put on your full Armor and be ready to fight.

Beloved in the Lord, we are at war. This war is not with other humans. Let’s not waste our time fighting one another. Our fight is with the devil and his accomplices. Therefore, let’s put on the full Armor of God and unite as one Body of Christ to fight our common enemy (devil).

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask the Lord to help all Believers to be always conscious that we are at war with the enemy. Let’s also ask him to help all Believers to put on the full Armor of God.
