We were saved for good works

Title: We were saved for good works

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them

(Ephesians 2:10 KJV)

There is this story of a man of God who took a cab in London. On their way, he began talking to the Driver about Jesus as he usually does to all the people he meets. He then asked the Driver if he believes in Jesus, Heaven and Hell, and the driver said, โ€œNo, I donโ€™t believe in any such thing.โ€ The driver later asked the man of God the same question and he answered, โ€œYes, I believe in Jesus.โ€ The driver then asked the man of God, โ€œIf you believe you will go to Heaven, why donโ€™t you just kill yourself and go to Heaven right now. After all you would escape all the bills, debts and problems of this world.โ€ The Driver asked a very good question that got the man of God thinking and before he could answer him, they arrived at the destination.

I believe that the most powerful and dangerous thing God gave man is his โ€œWillโ€ which is part of his soul. This is because man is unpredictable and may later denounce Christ and reject God. The devil and his agents are also fighting Christians all the time, with the sole aim: steal, kill and destroy. So, God knowing all these, why doesnโ€™t He just call us Home (Heaven) right after we become born again? Why are we still alive?

I believe that most Christians have not taken time to ask these questions and if they have, they didnโ€™t search deeply for the answer and if they did, they didnโ€™t really understand the answer. This can only explain why many Christians are Fruitless; they donโ€™t work for the Lord and donโ€™t contribute anything to the Kingdom of God. The truth is most Christians donโ€™t really know why they were saved.

We are blessed and grateful to God for revealing the answer to us in the above scripture. God sent His only begotten son Jesus to pay the price of our sins so that we can have fellowship with Him and through the fellowship, we will know the good works He has planned for us and do them. When we come to Jesus He takes away our burden of sin and darkness and gives us His burden (lost souls). We all have a work to do; there are many souls to be saved and many people to help grow spiritually. Letโ€™s focus on the work and do it diligently, knowing that we shall all stand before the Lord and give account.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย

Brethren, even though God has touched our lives and given us promise of heaven, there is a work to be done on earth. There are things to accomplish for God and He expects us to respond to His great love by giving ourselves wholly to His work.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His word today and for His Grace. May God help every believer understand His purpose for us and grant every believer the Grace to be obedient and fulfill every purpose He has planned for us.

God bless you all.
