“There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.”
(Matthew 17:2 NIV)
Some time ago, the Lord took me in a vision to the Garden of Eden, where I saw Adam. He was suspended above the ground between the trees, and he was covered with white light all around. Then I heard the voice of God telling me, “This was My plan for Adam if he obeyed Me.”
Though Adam and Eve were naked because they had no physical clothes on (Genesis 2:25), they were actually covered by the glory of God in the form of light. When they fell, this glory departed, and God had to make a covering of skin for them (Genesis 3:21). However, when we gave our lives to God, that glory which Adam lost was restored to our spirit (John 17:22).
The New Man is created after Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). When Jesus Christ manifested on earth, though He had a covering of skin (flesh) like every other human, in His spirit resided the glory. At a point when He took the disciples to the place of prayer, the scriptures recorded that “There He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light” (Matthew 17:2, NIV). That is, the disciples were able to see the glory of God hidden within the flesh of Jesus.
Like Jesus, when we pray, God causes people to see His glory in our lives; that which is hidden within our vessels of clay (2 Corinthians 4:7) becomes visible to those around us.
