Title: Why the Enemy is Fighting You

And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” (Mark 4:37-38 NKJV)

One day, our Lord was ministering to a multitude of people, and when he had finished, he told His Disciples that they should cross over the sea to the other side (Land of the Gadarenes). On their way, a great windstorm arose, and the wind beat against the Boat. The Boat was then filled with a lot of water and was about to sink. To the amazement of the disciples, the Lord Jesus was still asleep in the midst of these heavy Storms.

After battling with the storm for some time, the disciples called out to the Lord Jesus. He arose and rebuked the storm, and it instantly became calm. They were then able to cross over peacefully to the Land of the Gadarenes (Mark 4:35-41). That’s where He met and delivered the man who was possessed by many legions of demons (Mark 5).

Whenever I read this portion of Scripture, I always ask myself whether the storm they experienced is related to the deliverance of the demon-possessed man. Personally, I believe they are. I believe the Lord Jesus went to the Land of Gadarenes specifically for this man. It was not recorded if He did any other thing over there. However, it was recorded that they crossed over to where they were after the man was delivered (Mark 5:21).

Also, after the man was delivered, he went around proclaiming the name of Jesus to all (Mark 5:20). It is believed that he became a great Evangelist of our Lord Jesus. The evil one knew how great this man could be and that’s why his demons arrested him and also tried to prevent the Lord Jesus from coming to set him free.

What am I trying to say? I am trying to let you know that the reason why you are experiencing numerous attacks from the evil one is because of who you are in Christ and what you possess. The truth is that we are mostly not even aware of what we possess in the Spirit because most of them might not have yet manifested. However, the evil one knows that if he doesn’t stop you, he will be in serious trouble.

You may win all your family, friends, and the whole neighborhood for Christ. Your music may instill the fear and love of God in the hearts of men. Your intercessory prayers may prevent his evil plans and agendas from coming to pass in the Nations. He will therefore use diverse forms of strategies to fight you (2 Cor 2:11). I am not trying to scare you, but this fight will never stop until he defeats you (1 Pet 5:8).

However, don’t be afraid! We are already conquerors and victorious in Christ. Just as the Lord Jesus rebuked the storm and it remained calm, we have been given the same Power and Authority in Christ to fight and destroy the works of the evil one (Matt 28.18-20, Acts 1:8).

Beloved in the Lord, the evil one will keep on fighting us because of who we are in Christ and what we possess. He will be roaring like a lion, but we don’t have to be afraid because we have the Power and Authority in Christ to destroy his works. Be vigilant and keep on being faithful to the Lord. You are more than a conqueror!

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask the Lord to help all Believers to be conscious of the plans and strategies of the evil one. Let’s also ask Him to help us to be conscious of all our Weapons and Inheritance in Christ.
