At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said: โ€œNaked I came from my motherโ€™s womb, and naked I will depart.[a]
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.โ€ Job 1:20-21

Loyalty is something that is highly cherished no matter who you are talking about whether it is man or God(Proverbs 3:3-4). Can I trust you? Are you for the Money or for Love? Can you trust me? Can you suffer a little while for me? Just like marriage our relationship with God is for better or for worse. However sometimes we find ourselves backsliding because things are going on very well for us or things are going on bad. Before, you used to profess โ€œGod is goodโ€, โ€œGod is kindโ€ but now since you lost your job, or your child died, you say it reluctantly. When you were poor you were always in church but now that you won an American lottery and came to America, they donโ€™t hear anything about God from you again. If things change will what you are professing change? Can you be faithful? Can I trust you? Will you trust me?

Job was a man greatly blessed by God. Maybe he used to thank God 10 times a day. The question now was โ€œis He faithful because he loves God or because of the blessings?โ€ The test of Job was a litmus test that proofed that he was genuinely in love with God and not just power, fame or wealth. Why do we backslide? One reason is that we were not following God for the right reason. For instance, when you marry a man because of money if he becomes poor it becomes difficult to remain because your primary interest was wealth. Similarly, if we are not after Godโ€™s heart but what we can get from Him we might not last in our relationship with Him or it may become dependent on whether we are getting what we want or not. Donโ€™t you have a friend or loved one whom you appreciate just for their personality. If it can be so with a person how much more for the one who created you and loves you. Godโ€™s desire is that we can be in real relationship with Him. Not just for benefits. It is not that you are not aware of the benefits, but more than this you cherish His presence. The more we love Him the harder it will be for us to backslide. Contrary to that we will be the ones that are faithful in all seasons.

We grow in love with Jesus by knowing more about Him through His word and prayer and by obedience(John 15:10). Abide in His love.(John 15:9)

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank Jesus for His faithfulness and Love. Letโ€™s pray for the grace to grow in sincere love for Him.
