He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you,ย doeth he itย by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Galatians 3:5 KJV

If you are in doubt of the power of words, all you need to do is look around you, for all we see came from God speaking them forth. This is not just so with God alone, it is the ability He has placed in man, for we were created in His image and likeness (Gen. 1:26). Sadly, not many people know the value of words, but if you do, you will eat its fruit (Prov. 18:21)
I can go ahead and write a treatise on this topic, but I will rather highlight instances where words inspired the miraculous in scriptures, thereby revealing it’s power. The first instance I will mention is the supernatural provision for Abraham. We read how God provided a lamb for Abraham to sacrifice in place of his son Isaac (Gen. 22:13). Though this act from God looked instantaneous, it was a product of what Abraham said (His words). When asked by Isaac what will be used for the sacrifice as they walked, because he did not want to reveal that it was him, Isaac, that he had in mind to use, he rather said “the Lord will provide Himself the lamb for the sacrifice (Gen. 22:8)”. The word Abraham spoke was what manifested as the lamb found in Genesis 22:13.
Again, when Jesus wanted to go raise Lazarus from the dead, he told his disciples that he was going to raise him up from sleep (John 11:11 – 17). As we know, Lazarus wasn’t literally sleeping, but the Lord was using His words to recreate the situation and give room for the miraculous. At the grave of Lazarus, the only prayer Jesus made was that He thanked God for He has heard Him, and He went on to call Lazarus back to life like one waking up a friend that is sleeping in a distant room (John 11: 41 – 44). Have you ever wondered at what point the Father heard Jesus? It was when He told the disciples that He was going to wake Lazarus from sleep ( John 11:11)
I will end with this testimony. Some years ago, I was dealing with an inflammation that appeared on my forehead. I had tried several drugs but it wasn’t healing. This affected my self-esteem and brought a deformation to my face. As I came in contact with the teachings of Kenneth E. Hagin on faith and healing, I heard and I believed that by His stripes I have been healed (1 Peter 2:24). In response to this, I threw my drugs away, believing that I am healed. Truly, my healing manifested and the inflammation disappeared. However, traces of the inflammation began to appear again after a while. A friend brought it to my notice: he said, “it’s appearing again”. At his words, I shouted “it’s a lie”, and that was the last time a trace of it appeared on my forehead. Because I knew the unchanging nature of God’s word, I took sides with Him by what I said instead of affirming the contradiction that was.
As we stay conscious of Him and speak only faith-filled words, we will see the manifestation of the miraculous in our lives daily.
Prayer point:
Let’s thank Him for His word. Let’s also ask Him to help the Church to know the power of words and He should help us to only speak faith filled words.
