^”Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God”. (Galatians 5:19-21).

Since man deviated from the initial plan of God, the earth and everything in it degenerated. As the Earth was cursed by God, man suddenly lost his identity which is his authentic dominion to rule in the physical realm; becoming hopeless. When the earth became corrupt, man automatically became carnal because he was wrapped with earthly material (Dust), his ways and thoughts became opposite with the ways of God. Although he still had the remnant of God’s creativity in him, however, the force and pressure of carnal desires subdued him by pulling him to the path of the Devil. The Devil from the beginning had no territorial authority on earth because God gave man as his domain but because man lost the presence of God, he became helpless and vulnerable for the enemy to capitalize on.

The only possible means the Devil could manipulate man was by making sure that man is disconnected from God, because the enemy knew the secret of the power of man, in fact, man was just a product of the earth(dust) and him without God is as useless as any common thing found on the surface of the earth with just a hopeless soul that lives forever. The mystery about the entire event is that, man was created to live forever but in a physical form trapped with a soul and the spirit of God (image of God).

It is that spirit of God which is also the image of God  that quickens the earthly body of man by connecting him to the mind and thought of God. When the spirit of God departed from man, the soul and the body were without guidance, support, godly character and connection with the Almighty God. Eventually, man sadly became slave through the flesh by propagating the desires of the Devil. Sin as a defect corrupts and eat up the soul of man just like cancer or viral disease, it saturates and grows into maturity with evil manifestation. The manifestation of the flesh and its works without the spirit of God in man is what we see in the book of Galatians 5:19-21.

Let’s thank God for the word today. Let’s also ask Him to help us overcome our flesh by yielding to spirit of God.
