Title: Worship is a Lifestyle

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.ย (Romans 12:1-2 NKJV)

When I came to Germany to further my Studies, there was a time that I had to move to a different Region for my masterโ€™s Thesis. When I came to this Region, I was living with one Brother who was also a Believer. I began looking for a place of Fellowship and so I asked him about the Bible Believing Ministries around and he decided to take me to where he fellowships. On our way to Church, the Bus we took delayed because of Traffic, and we were late for the Service.

This Brother then told me that we should return home. I asked him why he is saying that. He replied that for him, if he misses the Praise and Worship part of the Service, he doesnโ€™t feel good in his Spirit and he feels as if he never went to Church. I had to seriously persuade him until he later agreed for us to go. From that day, I kept thinking about it and asking myself what worship really is about. Is worship limited to only to singing songs to the Lord?

Worship is the act of attributing reverent honor and homage to God. Our worship of God is directed by our love for Him; as we love, so we worship. The Lord expects all Believers to worship Him in spirit and truth (John 4:24). I believe that the best worship we can give the Lord is to present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to Him (Rom 12:1-2). We have to fully dedicate our lives to obey to Him and His word. As we love the Lord with all our heart, with all our Soul and with all our strength, it sometimes causes us to turn the words we have for the Lord into a nice melody in the a form of a song.

We sometimes also express our love for the Lord through prayer which is also a form of Worship. Another way to worship the Lord is to give an offering to Him. This can be seen in various parts of the Old Testament where the Israelites gave their harvest and animals as offering to the Lord (1 Chr 16:29, 2 Chr 29:28). In the New Testament, we also give an offering in a form of money to support the building of the Kingdom of God. However, the best offering we can give to the Lord is to offer ourselves as living sacrifices (Rom 12:1-2).

Therefore, worship is not limited only to singing songs to the Lord (Ps 100:2). This religious mindset has done a lot of harm to many Believers and the Body of Christ as a whole. There are some Believers who think they can go to Church to sing nice songs to worship the Lord and when they close from Church, they go back to live their lives in sin and disobedience. We have to know that Worship is part of our Christian lives, and we have to live it daily.

Beloved in the Lord, the Lord expects us to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. It is very important to know that worship includes but not limited to singing songs to the Lord. We also worship the Lord through service, obedience, prayer and offering. The best offering, we can give the Lord is to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to Him.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask the Lord to give all Believers a wider understanding of Worship. Letโ€™s ask Him to help us to live a life of Worship.

God bless you all
