And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Caesarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him. [9] And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy. (Acts 21:8-9 KJV)

Becoming a worthy example of Christ to all that we come across is one of the most effective ways to preach the goodnews. The life that we live must show that God lives in us. Our conduct must never bring disrepute to His holy name but rather, glorify it.

In our opening text, we see a man called Philip who had a calling as an evangelist preaching Christ and saving lost souls into the kingdom of God (Acts 8:5-8). This same man had four daughters who were all virgins and who were all prophets. As a father, he was an example to his children in purity and holy living. He was also an example to them in his walk with the Lord, so much so that God saw them as vessels through which He could speak to others. Philip’s daughters’ ministry was so impactful in the land of Caesarea that it was worthy of being recorded in the bible.

When apostle Paul was charging his son Timothy to be a worthy example to believers in 1 Tim. 4:12, it was because his conduct and way of life would have a major impact on how others see Christ. We are His witnesses, and wherever we find ourselves, we must live right, knowing that we are ambassadors of the heavenly kingdom here on earth, and we must exemplify the culture of the place we came from.

The fruits of the Spirit must be seen on display in our lives, and God must be proud of us like He was of Job when He spoke about Jobโ€™s righteousness to the devil. Imagine that level of holy living that God himself could testify about it! (Job 1:8). He doesn’t expect less from us either in the way and manner with which we conduct ourselves at work, at home, in school, in the marketplace, in church, in society and everywhere we find ourselves. Holy and righteous living is non-negotiable because it glorifies God and focuses His attention on us (John 15:8).

Prayer point:

Let us thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him for the grace to be worthy examples of Christ in all we do.
