Title: You Have Received Power

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Luke 24:49 NIV

It is the will of God for us to manifest the fullness of His identity and operate as god’s here on earth. One of the things we know of God is that He is all-powerful. Power is not just what He has, but who He is, for Jesus Christ described God as Power when He replied the High priest in His trial. He said, “… ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power.., (Mark 14:62)”. Therefore, we are power creatures, for we were created in His image and likeness.

Power was imparted into our spirit the moment we gave our lives to God by the coming of the Holy Spirit into our hearts (John 20:22). This dimension of power that came to us at new birth is the means by which we are sealed for salvation (2 Cor. 1:22). However, we are endued with another dimension of power when we are baptized (immersed, clothed) with the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49). This dimension of power is what we use to witness for Christ; By Him, the fact that God resides in us is revealed, and our claims about Him are validated, leading to the salvation of souls. Despite the realities we have in Christ, quite a few of us are manifesting power. There is a reason for this, and there are things we can do to see that we are exercising dominion over the enemy as God expects of us.

To manifest power, you must know that you have received power already. A lot of us are not conscious of the Truth that the all-powerful one is in us, therefore, are not able to manifest Him. In His prayer for the Ephesians Church, Apostle Paul said “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know… his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength (Eph. 1:18-19)”. Knowledge comes before belief, for you cannot believe what you do not know, therefore, you cannot manifest it. How great is the power that resides in every believer? It is the same power God exercised when He raised Jesus from the dead (Eph. 1:19). This means every believer is more powerful than the host of hell combined (Luke 10:19). Glory!!!.

After gaining the knowledge that you have power already, you need to have faith in the name of Jesus for the power to be released. This faith in His name is affirmed by God when we have a revelation of the name and take steps to use it. By the name, we have received the power of attorney (The right) to represent Jesus Christ on earth. So when we speak in His name, it is as though Jesus Himself is speaking. Therefore, what cannot resist the command of Jesus if He were here personally cannot resist our commands. When Peter healed the invalid at the beautiful gate, He said “… but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk (Acts 3:6)”. Like Peter, we all have the name of Jesus (we possess it). Be conscious of this reality and exercise authority using the name.

Now that you know you have received power, step out in faith and exercise it against the powers of the enemy and the forces of nature using the name of Jesus. As you do, the faithful God will make Himself manifest.

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help the Church to manifest power
