Title: A Fight is Still Needed
By: Daniel Idehen
This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,
1 Timothy 1:18 ESV
In yesterday’s call to prayer, I made mention that the New Testament is the legal document that contains all that our Father (God) has given to us His children. I said as we find those things in scripture, we acknowledge them by thanksgiving and affirmation for they to become a living reality in our lives (Philemon 1:6). However, there is still a fight against the enemy (the devil) that we still need to do for us to fully enjoy the benefits of our redemption.
To understand the need for this fight, let’s take a look at a parallel event in the Old Testament that will help us understand the new. When God was about to bring Israel into the promise land (the land of Canaan), He told Joshua that ‘He had given him every place where the bottom of his foot steps (Joshua 1:3)’. After this revelation, Joshua did not just thank God for it and affirmed it, but by the faith in the word given, he went to the land of Canaan and he fought and dispossessed the giants in the land. In the same manner, we are to fight and dispossess every power that stands in the way of us coming into our inheritance in Christ (The redemption benefits)
For instance, The word has declared that by the stripes of Jesus we have been healed. By this revelation, it is clear that a Christian should not be sick. However, people still experience pain and discomfort in their bodies as a result of sickness. Despite this situation, we consistently declare (confess) out health in Christ for we are to live in the realm of truth and not sight. That is why the Bible said in Zion (The Church) none shall say I am sick (Isaiah 33:24). With this attitude of mind, we use the authority in the name of Jesus to cast out the devils or powers behind the feeling of sickness in our bodies (Mark 16:17). After this, we stop the signs and symptoms of the feeling of sickness using the same authority in the name of Jesus. We do this until we stop feeling the pain or discomfort in our bodies. When this happens, it means you have accessed your inheritance in good health. This is also true for the other benefits of salvation.
Prayer Point:
Let’s take time out today to ask God to teach the body of Christ how to use the authority in the name of Jesus He has given us to dispossess the powers trying to prevent us from accessing it.
God bless you all.
