By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name. (Romans 1:5 KJV)
Faith can be simply defined as believing and obeying the word of God. The servants at the wedding in Cana of Galilee were told one thing about the Lord Jesus: “whatsoever he saith to you, do it” (John 2:5) and this resulted in a landmark miracle. Real faith expresses itself through obedient living, and obedience finds its strength in trusting Godโs word and promises.
It is the posture of the heart that says,ย Lord, I trust You enough to follow You, even when I donโt see the whole path. Jesus Himself modeled this perfectly. He obeyed the Father all the way to the cross, not because he was forced to, but out of perfect trust in the Fatherโs will and plan of redemption for all mankind. When God called Abraham to leave his fatherโs house for a place he had never seen, he went out, not knowing where he was going (Hebrews 11:8). His steps of obedience sprang from faith in the One who promised. Abraham obeyed because he believed Godโs word.
Looking at it from our daily lives, sometimes, you may feel God nudging you to forgive someone who hurt you deeply. Everything in you resists. Yet if you believe Godโs word that forgiveness brings freedom and reflects His mercy, you can obey, even when itโs hard. That step of forgiveness is the obedience of faith.
Even in the quiet choices of everyday life, this principle applies. When youโre tempted to join in gossip at work but choose silence instead, believing Godโs way of speech builds up rather than tears down, that is faith in action. When you choose to spend time in prayer or reading the scripture instead of endlessly scrolling on your gadgets, you show that you trust Godโs presence to nourish you more than distraction ever could.
In conclusion, we have all to gain and nothing to lose when we trust the word of God against whatever reality might be saying to us.
Prayer point:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s pray to the Father to help us to obey and follow His Word all the days of our lives.
