Title: Don’t be ignorant

And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: (Luke 15:29 KJV)
To maximise our Christian experience here on earth and to have dominion, awareness of who we are in Christ is very important. There are too many blessed believers living below the par. Ignorance has robbed many who believe working for God is all it takes, without deepening their intimacy with Him. That is why people get envious of individuals who truly are maximising their life in Christ.
The story of the prodigal son reveals a powerful truth about spiritual ignorance. The elder brother had faithfully served his father for many years, yet when his younger brother returned and was celebrated, he became angry and resentful. His complaint in Luke 15:29 exposed a painful reality: although he lived in his father’s house, he did not understand the privileges that belonged to him.
The father’s response is enlightening: “Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine” (Luke 15:31). The elder son had access to everything his father possessed, yet he lived as though he had nothing. His problem was not a lack of provision but a lack of understanding.
Many believers today are like the elder brother. They pray, serve, attend church, and work diligently in God’s kingdom, yet they remain unaware of their inheritance in Christ. They struggle with fear, insecurity, jealousy, and comparison because they have not fully grasped what Christ has already made available to them. Ignorance causes them to seek externally what has already been deposited within them through salvation.
God desires that His children grow in the knowledge of Him. Spiritual maturity is not measured merely by years of service but by the depth of revelation and fellowship with God. When you know who you are in Christ, envy disappears, confidence grows, and you begin to walk in the authority and blessings that are yours.
Do not settle for merely being around the things of God; pursue intimacy with God Himself. Study His Word, spend time in prayer, and allow the Holy Spirit to reveal your identity and inheritance in Christ. What belongs to the Father belongs to His children. Refuse to let ignorance rob you of what grace has already provided.
Prayer point:
Let us thank God for His word today. Let’s pray that God will deliver us from every form of spiritual ignorance and help us walk confidently in the inheritance He has given us.
