Topic: When God Says Wait

Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord! — Psalm 27:14 (NKJV)
Waiting is one of the hardest lessons in the Christian life. We often pray for immediate answers, quick breakthroughs, and instant solutions. But sometimes, instead of saying “yes” or “no,” God says, “Wait.” Waiting is not God’s way of ignoring us—it is often His way of preparing us.
The Bible reminds us, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31). Waiting on God is never a waste of time. It is a season where our faith is strengthened, our character is developed, and our trust in God deepens.
A powerful example is Abraham and Sarah. God promised them a son, yet they waited for many years before Isaac was born (Genesis 12:1–4; 21:1–3). Although the waiting was difficult, God fulfilled His promise at the appointed time. What God promises, He always accomplishes.
Another example is Joseph. God gave him dreams of greatness while he was young, but before the palace came the pit, slavery, and prison (Genesis 37–41). Every delay was part of God’s preparation. When the right time came, Joseph realised that God had been working all along.
Imagine planting a mango tree. You water it regularly, remove weeds, and care for it, but it does not produce fruit overnight. If you become impatient and uproot it because you cannot see immediate results, you will never enjoy its fruit. In the same way, many people give up just before God’s timing. Waiting requires patience because growth often happens beneath the surface before it becomes visible.
Even Jesus Christ waited for the Father’s appointed time. Although He was the Son of God, He began His public ministry at the right time (Luke 3:23). Throughout His ministry, He often said, “My hour has not yet come” (John 2:4). Jesus trusted the Father’s timing, and we are called to do the same.
If God is asking you to wait, do not lose heart. His delays are not denials. His timing is perfect, and He is working behind the scenes for your good. Trust Him, remain faithful, and remember that those who wait on the Lord are never disappointed.

- Let’s thank God for His word.
- Let’s ask God to give us the patience to trust His timing.
- Let’s ask Him to help us not to become discouraged while we wait, but to grow in faith, obedience, and hope.
- Let’s ask God to teach us to wait with confidence, knowing that His plans are always perfect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
