Title: Living with Open Hands

Give a portion to seven, and also to eight, for you do not know what disaster may happen on earth. Ecclesiastes 11:2 (ESV)
The kingdom of God operates on a principle that often contradicts human thinking. What you release in faith is what God multiplies. Our opening scripture today is not merely financial advice. It is a revelation of kingdom stewardship. Another angle to it is that generosity or philanthropy is not an occasional act but a lifestyle of trust.
This is a call to wisdom. God teaches His children to avoid placing all their hope, resources, dreams, or relationships into one vessel. Diversification in Scripture reflects dependence on God’s provision rather than confidence in a single source. When one stream dries up, God has already prepared another.
Spiritually, this verse speaks of sowing beyond what is comfortable. Every act of kindness, every seed given, every person discipled, every opportunity you create for others becomes a channel through which God can work. A farmer who refuses to scatter seed because of uncertainty is guaranteed no harvest. Faith scatters; fear stores.
Jesus demonstrated this principle throughout His ministry. He invested in the twelve, ministered to the multitudes, blessed individuals, and left behind a movement that transformed the world. He never limited His investment to one audience because the Kingdom always expands through faithful distribution.
When you look at your hands, are they clenched by fear or open in faith? Open hands release forgiveness, encouragement, resources, time, wisdom, and love. They recognise that everything entrusted by God is meant to flow through us, not merely remain with us. When we live with open hands, we become less anxious about loss because our confidence rests in the God who supplies every need. The seed you release today may become the provision that sustains you tomorrow, not because of luck, but because God honours obedient stewardship.
Prayer point:
- Let’s thank God for His word today.
- Let’s ask for divine direction and faith to invest and also sow into God’s kingdom and the lives of others.
