Every believer has been given gifts by God—not for personal glory, but to serve others and bring honour to Him. Whether your gift is teaching, singing, encouraging, serving, leading, giving, or showing kindness, God has entrusted it to you for a purpose. The question is not “Do I have a gift?” but “Am I using it for God’s glory?”
The Bible says, “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (1 Peter 4:10). God expects us to faithfully use what He has placed in our hands. Every gift, no matter how small it seems, has a place in His Kingdom.
One of the greatest examples is David. Before he became king, David faithfully used his skills as a shepherd and musician. He played the harp to comfort King Saul (1 Samuel 16:14–23) and later used the same courage he developed while protecting sheep to defeat Goliath (1 Samuel 17). David’s hidden gifts became tools in God’s hands because he was faithful before he became famous.
Another example is the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14–30). The servants who used and multiplied what their master entrusted to them were rewarded. But the servant who buried his talent out of fear was rebuked. God desires that we develop and use our gifts, not hide them.
Imagine a young person who is gifted in music but refuses to sing in church because they think they are not as good as others. Or someone who is good at encouraging friends but believes it is not an important gift. Those gifts may seem ordinary, but God can use them to strengthen lives, draw people to Christ, and build His Church. A small flashlight may not light an entire city, but it can help someone find the right path in the dark.
The Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy, “Do not neglect the gift that is in you” (1 Timothy 4:14). God does not compare your gift with someone else’s. He simply asks you to be faithful with what He has given you.
As we await the return of Jesus Christ, we must not waste the opportunities He has given us. Jesus said, “Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13). We are called to serve faithfully until He returns. One day, we will stand before Him and give an account of how we used the gifts He entrusted to us.
Don’t wait until you feel perfect or until you have a bigger platform. Start where you are. Use your gifts in your home, school, workplace, church, and community. God delights in those who faithfully serve Him with willing hearts.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Let’s thank God for His word.
2. Let’s thank Him for the gifts and abilities He has given us.
3. Let’s ask God to help us to use them faithfully for His glory and for the blessing of others.
