Title: Moments

But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. (Matthew 13:25 NKJV)

Looking back at the just-concluded World Cup, I noticed a pattern in how battles are won and lost. In the final game, both teams gave everything they had. For 105 minutes, neither side could find the breakthrough. Then, in just one moment, a player left his position unguarded. The opposition took advantage of that single lapse and scored the goal that eventually decided the winner. There are certain moments in life that change everything. Sometimes they are so brief that we hardly notice them, yet they leave consequences that last for years. Life is often like that.

Whether we realise it or not, we are all fighting battles every day. As believers, God has given each of us a place to stand and a responsibility to carry. For some, it is within the family. For others, it is in the workplace, the church, the classroom, or the community. Whatever your assignment is, never forget that your faithfulness affects more than just you. Someone is encouraged because you are standing. Someone is protected because you are praying. Someone’s future may depend on your obedience.

The enemy understands this too. He doesn’t have to win every battle. He only needs one unguarded moment to sow a seed that, if left unchecked, can grow into something destructive. Jesus painted this picture in Matthew 13:25. While men slept, the enemy quietly came and sowed tares among the wheat. It wasn’t a loud attack; it happened in a moment when no one was watching.

Perhaps you have faithfully stood in the gap for your family for many years. Maybe you have remained committed to God despite many challenges. Don’t allow one moment of discouragement, compromise, carelessness, or spiritual fatigue to undo what God has been building in your life. Stay close to Him. Keep praying. Keep watching. Keep trusting.

This morning, remember that great victories and painful defeats are often decided in ordinary moments. Ask God for the grace to remain watchful, because the One who has helped you stand this far will also give you strength to finish well.

Prayer point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Father, strengthen me in moments of weakness, and don’t let the enemy take advantage of any area of my life.
