Title: The Field of Increase

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” — 1 Corinthians 3:6
God gave Adam a field with three instructions: tend it, keep it, increase it (Genesis 2:15). A field is any place of assignment — ministry, medicine, a classroom, a trade, the mandate on a family.
The increase from tending is prosperity. A teacher’s fruit is transformed students; A farmer’s fruit is a healthy harvest; a doctor’s is patients restored; a business owner’s is a thriving enterprise that employs others. Flattening every field into one metric misses this.
Yet Scripture also calls us God’s vineyard — He plants, tends, increases. So which is it? Paul answers: “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase… you are God’s field” (1 Corinthians 3:6-9).
This is the two-man equation. Labor is real and commanded, but increase is never a human output — it’s God’s response to faithful labor. This guards against passivity dressed as trust, and productivity dressed as ownership. As Psalm 127:1 says, unless the Lord builds, the builders labor in vain. Whoever keeps, keeps because God keeps.
