Title: God’s Time

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

 (2 Peter 3:8 NKJV)

A little child once planted a seed and expected it to grow the very next morning. When nothing appeared, the child became worried and thought the seed was dead. However, the seed was growing beneath the soil, even though there was nothing visible on the surface. In the same way, we sometimes become impatient when we do not see God’s promises fulfilled immediately.

Beloved, God’s timing is not the same as ours. We measure time by days, months, and years, but God is eternal and is never limited by time. What appears to us to be a long delay is not a delay in God’s plan. His promises remain sure, and He will fulfil them at the appointed time.

In 2 Peter 3, the word of God reminds believers of this truth because some people would question the promise of Christ’s coming. They would mock and ask where the promise of His coming is. (2 Pet. 3:3–4) Yet the apparent delay of the Lord’s return does not mean that He has forgotten His promise.

The Bible further explains that the Lord is not slack concerning His promise, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Pet. 3:9) His patience gives people an opportunity to repent and turn to Him. Therefore, we must not mistake His patience for permission to continue in sin.

Jesus Christ is coming again! Though we may not know the day or the hour, we must remain prepared and faithful. (Matt. 24:36, 42) Let us not become discouraged, grow weary in doing good, or allow the passing years to weaken our faith. God’s Word will never fail, and His promises will surely come to pass. (Isa. 55:11)

Beloved in the Lord, as we wait for His coming, let us live holy lives, grow in the knowledge of God, and remain committed to His work. The world may mock our hope, but our confidence is in the faithful God who keeps His promises. Do not lose heart because the Lord seems to delay; trust His timing and remain ready for His coming!

Prayer Point:

Let us thank God for His faithfulness and patience. Let us pray for grace to wait upon the Lord without growing weary, to live holy lives, and to remain steadfast in faith as we await the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God bless you all!
