How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him. ย  (Hebrews 2:3 NKJV)

ย

A man once received an urgent letter informing him of a life-changing inheritance that had been secured in his name. The letter clearly explained what was required to claim it, but he placed it aside, thinking he would attend to it later. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Eventually, the opportunity expiredโ€”not because it was denied to him, but because it was neglected. In the same way, many people do not reject salvation outright; they simply postpone responding to it, unaware of the eternal consequences (Prov 27:1).

The word of God presents a sobering question: โ€œHow shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?โ€ This is not merely a questionโ€”it is a warning. It reminds us that salvation is not something to be treated casually or pushed aside. It demands attention, response, and commitment. The danger is not always open rejection, but quiet neglectโ€”becoming too busy, too distracted, or too comfortable to pursue the things of God (Lk 8:14).

This salvation is described as โ€œgreatโ€ because of its divine origin and eternal value. It was first spoken by the Lord Himselfโ€”Jesus Christโ€”and confirmed by those who heard Him. It is a salvation that rescues us from sin, restores our relationship with God, and grants us eternal life (Jn 3:16). Such a gift must never be taken lightly.

Neglect often happens gradually. It begins with small compromisesโ€”less time in Godโ€™s Word, less fervency in prayer, less sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. Over time, the heart can become dull, and spiritual passion can fade (Heb 2:1). Without careful attention, we begin to drift away from what once mattered most.

This message calls us to examine our hearts. Are we actively pursuing our salvation, or are we neglecting it? Are we growing in faith, or slowly drifting? God has done His part by providing salvation through Christ; our responsibility is to respond with diligence and devotion (Phil 2:12โ€“13).

Beloved in the Lord, let us not allow distractions, busyness, or complacency to rob us of the fullness of what God has given. Today is the day to refocus, to return, and to take our walk with God seriously. Salvation is too great to ignore and too valuable to neglect.

Prayer Point:

Let us thank God for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Let us ask Him to awaken our hearts, remove every form of spiritual negligence, and help us to pursue Him with diligence, passion, and consistency.

God bless you all!
