“But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.”
— Ephesians 5:13 NKJV

Light does not negotiate with darkness; it exposes it. Wherever light enters, what was hidden becomes visible. In the same way, God has called us to live as children of light, bringing the truth of His Word into places where darkness has concealed sin, deception, and ungodly works.

The preceding verses make this responsibility clear: “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them” (Ephesians 5:11). We are not called merely to identify darkness; we are called to refuse participation in it and to expose what contradicts the will of God.

Sometimes darkness persists because people who know the truth become comfortable with it. We may see wrong and remain silent, recognise compromise and join in, or become so accustomed to ungodliness that we no longer confront it. But light cannot fulfil its purpose while participating in darkness.

To expose darkness does not mean condemning people. It means allowing the truth of God’s Word to reveal what is contrary to Him. Our lives, words, choices, and conduct should shine so clearly that darkness is confronted simply by the presence of light.

Therefore, examine your life. Are there attitudes, relationships, practices, conversations, or compromises that belong to darkness? Do not make peace with what God has called you to expose. Do not participate in what you have been called to confront.

Let the light of Christ shine through you. Where there is deception, bring truth. Where there is hatred, demonstrate love. Where there is sin, uphold righteousness. Where there is compromise, stand for holiness.

Prayer:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask Him to help us shine as light and not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness
