When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, โ€œIt is finished!โ€ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
(John 19:30 NKJV)

ย

On the cross, in what seemed like a moment of defeat, Jesus declared, โ€œIt is finished.โ€ He did not speak as a victim, but as a Victor. In that moment, the work of redemption was fully accomplished, sin was paid for, the price was settled, and the way to God was opened. What appeared to be an end became the beginning of victory for all who believe.

This declaration means that nothing is missing and nothing needs to be added. Yet many believers still live as though something remains undone, striving to earn acceptance, struggling with guilt, and trying to achieve what Christ has already secured. The truth of the Gospel calls us to live differently: not striving for victory but living from victory.

Through the finished work of Christ, we have been justified and declared righteous before God (Rom 5:1). We have been redeemed, set free from sin and its power (Eph 1:7). We have been reconciled, brought into peace with God, no longer counted as guilty (2 Cor 5:19). Even the enemy has been defeated and disarmed and no longer holds authority over our lives (Col 2:15).

At the cross, a divine exchange took place: Jesus took our sin, guilt, and shame, and gave us His righteousness and acceptance (2 Cor 5:21). This is not partial changeโ€”it is complete transformation. We are no longer who we used to be; we are now new in Christ.

We are called to walk in this finished work by faith, not by effort (Gal 2:20). As we renew our minds with Godโ€™s truth and abide in Christ, we begin to live in the freedom and rest He has provided (Rom 12:2; Jn 15:5). When we fail, we run to grace; when fear arises, we stand in the assurance of victory.

Beloved in the Lord, let us lay down every burden of striving and fully embrace the victory Christ has secured. Let us live daily with confidence, knowing that it is truly finished.

Prayer Point:

Let us thank Jesus for His finished work on the cross. Let us ask Him to help us walk in His victory, to live by faith and not by striving, and to experience the fullness of His righteousness, freedom, and rest.

God bless you all!
