The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork. Psalms 19:1 NKJV
The glory of God is the visible and invisible expression of who He is—His power, holiness, love, and majesty revealed to humanity. From the beginning of creation, the glory of God has been displayed in the heavens, the earth, and everything He has made. Scripture tells us that “the heavens declare the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1). Every sunrise, every breath we take, and every miracle of life points to His greatness.
In the Old Testament, God’s glory was often revealed in tangible ways. When Moses encountered God on Mount Sinai, the glory of the Lord appeared like a consuming fire (Exodus 24:16–17). Later, when the tabernacle and temple were dedicated, God’s glory filled the place so powerfully that the priests could not stand to minister (Exodus 40:34–35; 1 Kings 8:10–11). These moments remind us that God’s glory is holy and weighty—it demands reverence and obedience.
In the New Testament, the glory of God is revealed most fully in Jesus Christ. John writes, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory” (John 1:14). Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, God’s glory was no longer confined to a place but revealed through a Person. The cross, though marked by suffering, became the greatest display of God’s glory because it showed His love, grace, and redemptive power.
Today, God’s glory is revealed in and through believers. We are called to live in a way that reflects Him—through our character, obedience, and love. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). When we choose righteousness over sin, faith over fear, and love over selfishness, God’s glory is made visible in our lives.
Ultimately, the glory of God is our eternal hope. Scripture promises a day when the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord (Habakkuk 2:14), and in eternity, there will be no need for the sun or moon, because “the glory of God illuminates it” (Revelation 21:23). Until that day, our purpose is simple yet profound: to know Him, reflect Him, and live for His glory in all that we do.
Prayer Points:
- Let’s thank God for His word.
- Let’s ask the lord to open our eyes to see His glory in His Word, in creation, and in our daily life. Let’s ask God to help us to live in a way that reflects His glory and brings honour to His name. Amen.
