Title: Walking In The Light
If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
(1 John 1:6 NKJV)
When the Israelites were journeying through the wilderness, God led them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. They had to follow His direction if they wanted to reach the Promised Land. Whenever God led, they were expected to move with Him. In the same way, as believers, we cannot claim to walk with God while deliberately choosing a path that contradicts His Word.
Beloved, having fellowship with God is more than attending church, praying, or calling ourselves Christians. It means having a genuine relationship with Him and allowing His nature and Word to influence how we live. God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5) Therefore, those who claim to belong to Him must demonstrate it through their daily conduct.
Unfortunately, some believers want to enjoy the blessings of Christianity without accepting the responsibility of living a godly life. They confess Christ with their mouths but continue to entertain sin, dishonesty, unforgiveness, hatred, and worldly practices. But Scripture makes it clear that we cannot walk in darkness and claim to have fellowship with God.
Consider the story of Judas Iscariot. He walked with Jesus, witnessed His miracles, and was among the twelve disciples. Yet, his heart was not fully surrendered to the Lord, and eventually, he betrayed Him. His story reminds us that being physically close to spiritual things does not necessarily mean that our hearts are right with God. (Matt. 26:14–16, 47–50)
Walking in the light means living in truth, righteousness, holiness, and obedience to God’s Word. It does not mean that believers will never make mistakes, but when we sin, we must be willing to confess and forsake our sins, trusting in the forgiveness and cleansing that comes through Jesus Christ. (1 John 1:7–9; Prov. 28:13)
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” (Matt. 5:14) Our lives must therefore reflect Christ wherever we find ourselves: in our homes, workplaces, churches, and among our friends. People should see the character of Christ through our actions and conduct.
Beloved in the Lord, let us examine our lives. We cannot claim to love God while deliberately living contrary to His commandments. Let us put away every form of darkness and pursue a genuine walk with Christ. Do not merely profess to know God; let your life demonstrate that you truly walk with Him!
Prayer Point:
Let us pray for grace to walk in truth, holiness, and obedience, so that our lives will genuinely reflect the light of Christ.
God bless you all!
