Except the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. ย Psalm 127:1
Marriage is Godโs idea, and whatever God designs is meant to work. Challenges may come, and misunderstandings may arise, but when God is at the centre, your marriage will succeed and flourish.
Many people enter marriage with expectations but without full dependence on God. Yet the strength of a marriage is not found in perfection, but in partnership with God. When the foundation is right, the structure will stand.
โA threefold cord is not quickly broken.โ โ Ecclesiastes 4:12
Consider the story of Abraham and Sarah. They experienced delays, doubts, and moments of impatience, yet God remained faithful to His promise concerning them (Genesis 18:10โ14; 21:1โ2). Their journey shows that even in the midst of struggles, God can still fulfill His purpose.
Also, Joseph and Mary faced uncertainty and public misunderstanding, yet they trusted God and remained committed to each other and to His plan (Matthew 1:18โ24). Their obedience preserved their union and fulfilled Godโs purpose.
Marriage can be likened to a car. No matter how good the car is, it requires regular maintenance, fuel, and proper handling to function well. If neglected, it will break down. In the same way, marriage requires communication, patience, forgiveness, and constant dependence on God to keep moving forward.
It is also like a building. If the foundation is weak, cracks will appear. But when the foundation is solid, even storms cannot destroy it.
There may be seasons when your marriage feels difficult, but difficulty does not mean failure. God is able to restore, strengthen, and renew what seems broken. โWith God all things are possible.โ โ Matthew 19:26
Love in marriage must be intentional, patient, and sacrificial.
โLove is patient, love is kindโฆ it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.โ โ 1 Corinthians 13:4โ7
When both partners submit to God, He gives the grace to handle differences, overcome challenges, and build unity.
Am I allowing God to build my marriage, or am I relying on my own understanding?
