Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christโ€™s sufferings.

(1 Peter 4:12โ€“13 NKJV)

Suffering is one of the realities many believers struggle to understand. When trials come, the heart may ask difficult questions: Why is this happening? Why has God allowed this pain? Yet the Word of God reminds us that suffering for Christ is not strange. It has been the experience of Godโ€™s people throughout history.

Letโ€™s consider Job. In a single season, he lost his wealth, his children, and his health. Yet in the midst of deep suffering, he declared, โ€œThough He slay me, yet will I trust Himโ€ (Job 13:15). Jobโ€™s pain did not destroy his faith; it revealed its depth.

Think also of Stephen, the first martyr of the church. As stones struck his body, he lifted his eyes toward heaven and saw the glory of God. Instead of cursing his enemies, he prayed, โ€œLord, do not charge them with this sinโ€ (Acts 7:60). In that moment, Stephen reflected the heart of Christ, who prayed for His persecutors on the cross.

The apostle Paul also knew suffering well. He endured imprisonments, beatings, and countless hardships for the sake of the gospel (2 Cor 11:23โ€“27). Yet Paul saw beyond the pain of the moment. He declared with confidence that โ€œthe sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in usโ€ (Rom 8:18).

Suffering for Christ is never meaningless. It refines our faith like gold in the fire (1 Pet 1:6โ€“7). It draws us closer to the heart of our Saviour (Philippians 3:10). And it prepares us for a glory that far outweighs every trial we endure (2 Cor 4:17).

Beloved in the Lord, when the fire of testing comes, do not lose heart. The God who allows the trial is the same God who walks with you through it. Just as He strengthened Job, gave Stephen a vision of heaven, and sustained Paul in his mission, He will sustain you.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask the Lord to strengthen the faith of all Believers to endure Trials with hope and confidence and remain faithful to the very end.

God bless you all.
