Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.(Isaiah 6:8 KJV)

The go or evangelical ministry is becoming less and less popular and a lot of believers are identifying more with comfort, enlargement and abundance. Any gospel or divine instruction that seeks to bring education to the fact that Christ also suffered is quickly repelled. This is not to say that will be our only experience but the consciousness must be there that when we go for him, we sometimes suffer for his sake.

In our opening text, we see the prophet Isaiah after his tongue had been purged and recommissioned as a mouthpiece of God to the people. He was willing to go and speak the word of God to the people eventhough the words may be heavy and unbearable to them, he was still willing to speak it regardless. The Lord asks a question that still echoes today: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Isaiahโ€™s response was immediate and wholehearted “Here am I; send me”. This is the posture of every believer who truly understands the call of God. Going for Jesus is not first about convenience, visibility, or reward; it is about availability and obedience.

The call to go will often stretch us beyond our comfort zones. It may require speaking truth in places where it is unwelcome, standing firm when compromise is easier, or serving faithfully without recognition. Like Isaiah, we are not sent because the assignment is easy, but because God is worthy of being obeyed. The willingness to go, even when the path includes hardship, is a mark of genuine devotion.

Jesus Himself modeled this life of surrender. He came not to be served, but to serve, and ultimately to give His life. If we are to follow Him, we must embrace both the joy and the cost of discipleship. Going for Jesus means carrying His message, His heart, and sometimes His burden for people who may not immediately receive it.

We must be aware that there is grace for the one who goes. God does not send without equipping, and He does not call without sustaining. The same God who cleansed Isaiah also empowered him. When we say yes to God, we step into a partnership where His strength meets our weakness. The question today before us is: Will we go? I pray that our hearts will respond with courage and surrender like Isaiah to say here am I, send me.

Prayer point:

Let us thank God for His word today. Let’s pray for courage, boldness and willingness to go for Him.
