17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[a] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”[b] Romans 1:17

The life we live as a Christian is a miracle. That means if you step outside yourself and look at some of the things you are doing, you may begin to wonder and fear can even set in. That’s because we, as believers we live by faith. 

A good example of this can be seen when the Apostle Peter saw Jesus walking on water and called out to Jesus and said, “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.” and Jesus said, “Come”. The bible says:

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

Peter was living a miracle by faith. Walking on water. He said,” Lord, if it is you, tell me to come to you on the water”, and when Jesus said, “Come”, he believed and started walking on the water. 

By faith in Jesus, we also live a life of righteousness. Believing who He is and what He has made us (2 Corinthians 5:21). Trusting in His power.

However, when Peter began to look around, he saw the wind, and fear gripped him, and he began to sink. Fortunately, he was wise enough to call upon the name of the Lord Jesus to save him from drowning. 

In the same way, we believers begin to sink when we move our gaze away from Jesus and begin to look at circumstances, what others are doing or saying, etc. 

However, for us to live righteously, live a miraculous life, we must keep our gaze on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. 

We have to keep remembering and believing what the scriptures say. 

The journey of faith goes on until we meet Him face to face ( 1 Corinthians 13:12, Revelation 22:4-6), but if we ever feel like we are drowning, we must call upon the name of the Lord Jesus to save us and teach us to walk by faith again. 

Let’s not rely on ourselves; let’s rely on Jesus. 

Prayer Point:

• Let’s thank God for His word.
• Let’s pray for God to help us keep our gaze on Him. Abiding in His word and in His love.
