Shepherd the flock of God which is among you… not as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 1 Peter 5:2–3
God does not only call us to lead—He calls us to live what we teach. Whether in the church, at work, in our homes, or among friends, our lives are constantly speaking louder than our words. People may forget sermons, but they rarely forget the lifestyle behind them.
The Apostle Paul reinforces this truth:
“Be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).
This reminds us that true leadership is not about position, title, or recognition—it is about character.
To be an example means allowing Christ to be seen in every area of your life.
In your speech, your words must reflect grace and truth. In everyday settings like the workplace, conversations can easily slip into gossip, complaints, or harsh criticism. But as a believer, you are called to speak life. When others tear people down, you choose to build up.
“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification” (Ephesians 4:29).
In your conduct, your lifestyle must align with your faith. Integrity is revealed not when people are watching, but when they are not. In your duties—whether as a healthcare worker, administrator, or in any profession—you are called to diligence and excellence, knowing you ultimately serve God.
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men” (Colossians 3:23).
In love, you reflect the heart of Christ. Love is most powerful when it is undeserved. When people offend or mistreat you, your response should be different. Instead of retaliation, you choose forgiveness, patience, and kindness.
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).
In faith, your trust in God must be visible, especially in difficult times. When challenges arise—financial pressure, health concerns, or family struggles—you stand firm, refusing to be consumed by fear. Your confidence in God becomes a testimony to others.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
In purity, you live a life set apart. In a world filled with compromise, you choose holiness. You guard your heart, your thoughts, and your actions, knowing that your life is accountable to God.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8).
Being an example is not about perfection—it is about intentional, consistent living. Even when you stumble, you rise again, demonstrating the power of grace and repentance.
Never forget: your life may be the only Bible someone will ever read.
