Title: The Power of the Cross

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
(1 Corinthians 1:18 NKJV)
ย
A traveller once found himself trapped under a heavy burden he could not lift. No matter how hard he tried, the weight only pressed him deeper into the ground. Exhausted and hopeless, he cried out for help. Then a stranger appeared, removed the burden, and placed it upon himself. Instantly, the man was free. What he could not carry, another bore on his behalf. This simple picture reflects the profound reality of the crossโwhere Jesus Christ took upon Himself the weight of our sin so that we might walk in freedom (Isa 53:6).
The Apostle Paul reminds us that the message of the cross is not understood by everyone. To some, it appears weak, foolish, and unnecessary. But to those who believe, it is the very power of God. The cross is not merely a symbol; it is the place where sin was defeated, where mercy triumphed over judgment, and where eternal life was secured for humanity (Col 2:14โ15).
At the cross, a divine exchange took place. Jesus took our guilt, our shame, and our punishment, and in return, He gave us forgiveness, righteousness, and peace with God (2 Cor 5:21). What we could never achieve through our own efforts was accomplished fully through His sacrifice. This is the power of the crossโit does what human strength and wisdom cannot do.
Yet this power must not remain a distant truth; it must become a personal reality. The cross calls us to lay down our burdens, surrender our lives, and embrace the freedom Christ has purchased for us (Matt 11:28โ30). Too often, believers carry what Christ has already paid forโguilt, condemnation, fearโforgetting that the cross has already provided victory (Rom 8:1).
The power of the cross is still active today. It still saves, it still heals, it still restores, and it still transforms lives. No situation is beyond its reach, and no life is beyond its redeeming power. The same sacrifice that was made on Calvary continues to speak on our behalf (Heb 12:24).
Beloved in the Lord, let us not take the cross lightly. Let us embrace it fully, live in its power, and allow it to shape our daily walk with God. May our lives reflect the victory that was won for us through Jesus Christ.
Prayer Point:
Let us thank God for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. Let us ask Him to help us live in the power of the cross, to release every burden at His feet, and to walk daily in the freedom, victory, and righteousness He has given us.
God bless you all!
