Title: Be Your Own Prophet

“I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me…” – Habakkuk 2:1 (KJV)
A prophet hears God on behalf of others, but in the times we are entering, you will need to be your own prophet.
A man who cannot hear or seek counsel from God for himself is susceptible to misdirection. And anything outside the will of God for our lives is a win for the devil – it leads to love waxing cold and falling away from the faith.
The times we are entering require personal conviction. You cannot borrow another man’s conviction.
Just as a child learns to walk even though he falls, so we must train ourselves to hear God and know how He is leading us in different seasons of our lives.
I remember God showing me a dream to order my steps concerning the type of education He wanted for me at a particular moment in my life. That is how personal His guidance can be.
His sheep hear His voice, and they follow Him. John 10:27
Secondly, hearing must lead to action. Be not hearers only, but doers. That is how we receive the blessings attached to obedience – whether shelter, protection, provision, preservation – and it is how we become what God intends for us to be.
Great and dreadful persecutions are coming. If you are not convicted, you will fall away.
What You Can Do:
1. Begin a discipline of regular asking. With this, you will begin to learn how He responds to you.
2. Set a fixed time for reading the Word.
3. Practice being led by His Spirit daily.
4. Find genuine believers who already hear and walk with God.
Prayer Points:
- Let’s thank God for His Word today.
- Let’s ask Him to help us to enjoy spending time in His presence through prayer and the study of His Word.
- Let’s ask Him to help us to be sensitive to the leading of His Spirit.
- Let’s ask Him to help us to hear Him and to obey Him.
